Roxanne Reed wanted to find a career that could easily move all over the world just like her husband who was an active-duty Marine.

She found that career by making candles in her kitchen in 2001 when she and her family were stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Today the “All Fired Up” Candle Company has expanded to include a clothing and purse company, Jane Wayne Gear, and more than 60 contractor military spouses located around the globe, said Reed who recently set up a stand at the Fort Belvoir Post Exchange.

“Overall we’re building a platform that supports military spouses endeavors,” said Reed, the founder and acting chief executive officer of the two companies, “That is huge.”

Military spouses throughout the United States, Japan and Germany are selling products for Jane Wayne and the candle company. The companies are 99 percent run by the spouses of active-duty military members.

The goal of the company is to give opportunities to spouses that are moving all over the world on a regular basis. The job is easily translatable because the spouses can sell the products from a catalog and Web site.

Jane Wayne Gear’s signature feature is the camouflaged design combined with pink. Purses feature the Army digital design, the United States Marine Corps Desert pattern and several other military designs infused with pink.

T-shirts feature images of Uncle Sam and words from the “Pledge of Allegiance.”

Military wives design the candles, and feature titles like “Americana”, a red, white and blue candle and “Deployment Blues” an entirely blue candle.

“It is truly a company that was built for military spouses and families,” Reed said.

Reed will be at Fort Belvoir March 5 to 11 with a stand at the exchange.
