Fort Belvoir outdoor pools are open for paddling, plunging and playing as well as serious swimming this summer. There are pools for the youngest ones, games for the oldest and water slides and water glides for those ages in-between. You can opt to float on a dragon, slither alongside a snake or perch precariously on a lily pad.
If sliding is your skill you can emerge from an octopus, shoot yourself from a seal or make your way out the mouth of a hippo. For the more adventurous and those who qualify by height you can try the figure-8 two-story water tower slide at Pool No. 3 near Lewis Village.
Pool No. 1 on South Post is located on 18th Street, Benyaurd Pool, an indoor pool, is at 23rd Street and Gunston Road. In addition, the Officer's Club operates a pool as well.
ID cards must be presented for pool admission. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Daily pool fees apply or membership at the Officers Club is required.
