Building packages, in addition to final design drawings of Fort Belvoir's Warrior-in-Transition complex, are being finalized in anticipation of advertising for future site work, according to planners associated with the project.
Randy Godfrey, the installation's project manager, said all site planning related to maintenance and utilities has been completed by the Louis Berger Planning Group in preparation for a final review by the U.S. Army's Fort Worth Center for Expertise, which will be responsible for evaluating all bids and awarding contracts for the project.
The center will also make the final decision regarding design status of the WT complex, which is being managed in conjunction with the Baltimore District Corps of Engineers, Godfrey said.
After a project review meeting Friday, Chadi Srour, a representative with the Louis Berger Group, said additional information related to storm water management and site plan needs, such as access to nearby DeWitt Hospital, would be further addressed before any final review takes place.
He noted that previous details were not as informative and that clarity is still needed as to whether the complex will have balconies available and, if so, whether those areas can only be accessed with a swipe card.
As with any construction project, authority from the installation commander is needed before advertising any bids for site work, Godfrey said.
