Aldersgate Church Childrens' Theater hosts a junior version of Gilbert and Sullivan's the Pirates of Penzance. The comic opera is a farce of sentimental pirates, bumbling policemen, dim-witted young lovers, dewy-eyed daughters and an eccentric major general, all morally bound to the often-ridiculous dictates of honor and duty.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 19, 25 and 26. Matinees are at 3 p.m. Jan. 20, 21 and 27. Tickets are $10 per person and are available at www.presaleticketing.com or by

The theatre is in Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Wesley Hall, 1301 Collingwood Road, at the intersection of Collingwood and Fort Hunt Road in Mount Vernon.
