• What is your position at Fort Belvoir?
I'm a partnership specialist with Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation.
• How long have you been working here?
I've been at Belvoir 5 ½ years.
• Where are you originally from?
Lemoore, Calif. It's small farming community.
• Have you ever served in the military?
No, but, my husband, Rob, is active-duty Navy.
• What are some of your job responsibilities?
I help promote the Edge program with our Child, Youth and School Services. That's an after-school program for middle-school teens. I also partner with our local fire departments, work various community events and speak at newcomers' briefings at the village neighborhood centers.
• What do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy working with kids and helping military families. That brings me a lot of satisfaction.
• What challenges come along with what you do?
Getting the word out about the different programs families can participate in on post. For example, we have many individual deployments at Belvoir, so, children are eligible for free hourly care through CYSS when just one of their parent's is deployed.
• What are some of your hobbies?
Keeping up with my three kids. I play bowling with them on our Nintendo Wii. I also like to play basketball.
• What are your impressions of Fort Belvoir?
This is a great community. There's a hometown feeling here, which I like a lot.
