2009 Engineering and Construction Camp
The Northern Virginia Society of American Military Engineers Post is again sponsoring high school students in the Northern Virginia region to attend the Army, Air Force Academy and/or Seabees Engineering and Construction camps in summer.
Interested students should complete the application(s) for all camps of interest at: novasame.org/camps/2009.
Students applying for the U.S. Army Camp should have completed at least their sophomore year of high school by the date of the camp. Students applying for the U.S. Air Force and Seabees Camps should have completed at least their freshman year of high school by the date of the camp.
Applicants should state their order of preference if interested in more than one camp. Scholarships available to local students include:
The Belvoir Enlisted Spouses' Club is encouraging applicants to apply for its 2009 Scholarship awards. Two awards will be made to high school seniors who are family members of enlisted military personnel in the Fort Belvoir area, and two awards will be made to a spouse of an enlisted person for the 2009-2010 school year.

Applications must be received by May 2.

Military family scholarships
Are you a spouse or dependent thinking about continuing your education? Park University is offering military family scholarships during the 2009-10 academic years. Prospective students or newly enrolled students are eligible. Those eligible are non-military spouses and dependents of active-duty military assigned, attached or living in the area.
The scholarship is for a year and is for up to 15 credit hours.
Applications must be submitted by March 6.

Applications for Belvoir Thrift Shop's scholarship program are available at the Thrift Shop, 10002 Caples Road, at the corner with 21st Street, a block east of the Vet Clinic, during regular business hours. Thrift Shop hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and the first and third Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A total of five, $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in the following categories:
Academic Achievement Award, for graduating high school seniors; Undergraduate Achievement Award, for a full-time undergraduate student; and the Continuing Educations Scholarship, for a military spouse pursuing a first bachelor's degree or attending trade or technical school. A 3.0 grade point average is required.
Applicants must be affiliated with Fort Belvoir: sponsor or parents must live, work, be assigned to or deployed from Fort Belvoir or, the applicant or sponsor must have completed 60 hours of verifiable volunteer service on the installation during 2008.
Completed applications must be at the Thrift Shop, not postmarked, by 2 p.m. March 12.

2009 Scholarship
National Guard Bureau Officers' Wives' Club has academic and need-assessed scholarships this year.
Applicants must be either a 2008-2009 high school senior or enrolled as a full-time college student.
The applicant must be a dependent (child or spouse) of a Soldier or civilian in one of the following categories:
Army or Air National Guard assigned to the NGB;
Active Army or Air Force personnel assigned to the NGB;
Retired from the T-10 AGR program with NGB;
Family of deceased personnel whose previous assignment was NGB;
Civilian personnel, GS only, working full-time for NGB.
Applications are not accepted from applicants who have previously received scholarship awards from the NGBOWC.
The submission deadline is March 31.

Belvoir Federal Credit Union is accepting applications from members for its 2009 Educational Scholarship program. The credit union will award a $1,000 scholarship to a 2009 high school graduate and a $1,000 scholarship to a member who is enrolled in higher education, furthering their education.
Over the last 10 years, the credit union has awarded more than $25,000 in scholarships.
Applications for the 2009 scholarships must be submitted by April 10.
