New year, new hours for visitors processing center

»  Comments | Post a Comment

New hours for Fort Belvoir's Visitors Processing Operations Center located at Tulley Gate have been in effect since January 1.
The new hours for the VPOC are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The facility is no longer open on Sundays.
According to Frank Hentschel, the installation's deputy director of emergency services, the new hours were put into place in an effort to mirror regular business hours for the installation.
"Recently, we discontinued our contracted service for that facility in an effort to reduce cost," Hentschel said. "It is now operated by Department of the Army civilians."
Hentschel also said that Fort Belvoir officials are considering the possibility of reducing those hours even more.
"Right now we are reluctant to reduce those hours more, so we will be sticking with these hours for now," Hentschel said.
