Wood Theater presents a free screening of the documentary, "Brothers at War,"March 26 at 6 p.m.
The film is the true story of a young filmmaker who embeds with four combat units in Iraq to gain insight about his two Soldier brothers, his family and his own character. Tickets are available at Church's Chicken Restaurant on North Post and at Wood Theater on a first-come, first-served basis.
Ticket holders should arrive 30 to 45 minutes before show time. Additional seating will be open to non-ticket holders 15 minutes before show time.
AAFES Headquarters Food and Theater Division and Samuel Goldwyn Films sponsor the screening.
ASE examination registration ending
Barden Army Education Center administers the Automotive Services Excellence examinations, in accordance with a national schedule, May 7, 12 and 14.
Active and reserve military in a related MOS or AFSC are eligible to test on the funded exam for college or certification. Recertification is not funded.
Interested personnel must complete a registration form by today in Barden, Bldg. 1017, Room 134.
DANTES funding must be authorized by an education center counselor for up to three exams for each of the semi-annual testing cycles. Students are responsible for paying the $32 registration fee with money order or personal check on exam day. The fee covers all exams taken during the cycle.

Comedy on the links
The Golf Course hosts a fitness seminar and comedy with Todd Sullivan, Scott Angrave and Chris White Friday. The event is free for 2009 golf members; for others, $19.95. Reservations are required by calling 703-806-5878, ext. 101 or 102.

Walk-in veterinary service
The Fort Belvoir Vet Clinic, Bldg. 610 Warren Road, has a walk-in vaccine clinic March 28, from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Services provided are vaccines, microchips, heartworm tests, feline leukemia and FIV testing and fecals.
Pets and their owners must be signed in by 11:30 a.m. to be seen. Children under age 12 are not allowed in the clinic during these hours. More information is available by calling 703-805-4336.
People who are authorized to use regular medical services at DeWitt Army Community Hospital are authorized to bring their pets to the Vet Clinic.
Learn the Metro
The International Spouse group has a Metro Field Trip, March 26, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to Eastern Market in Washington, D.C.

Technology and intelligence career fair
Fort Belvoir's Defense Technology & Intelligence Career Fair is Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Club, 1200 Taylor Road.
The event will have more than 25 employers and recruiters from government and industry and is for any job seeker with any federal security clearance, IT, technical, communications, aerospace, engineering, scientific, military, government, contractor or intelligence background.
Career fair pre-registration is available by creating a free job seeker account profile on transitioncareers.com, where resumes and profiles can be viewed.
Then, event pre-registration is available from In Your Career Account Home, under the Event section, select the event and click on "I Will Attend, which allows employers from the career fair to easily find your resume on the job board and speeds up event check in.

Annual cleanup
Belvoir participates in the Annual Route One Cleanup April 25.
Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. Volunteers can sign in and get reflective vests, trash bags and assignment.
Volunteers should dress in appropriate civilian attire, including comfortable shoes and gloves.
Refreshments provided after registration. The cleanup is from 8 a.m. to noon.
Volunteers should gather in the Community Center parking lot.

Blood drive reservations
In celebration of 2009 National Medical Laboratory Professional's Week, DeWitt Army Community Hospital's Department of Pathology and The Armed Forces Blood Program have a blood drive at DeWitt April 24 from 8 a.m. to noon in the main conference room.
The goal for the drive is 80 units.

Eastern Orthodox
The Divine Liturgy for the Great Feast of the Annunciation at 9 a.m. March 25 in the Religious Education Center, Bldg. 1028, 12th Street, next to Belvoir Chapel.
This feast commemorates the appearance of the Archangel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary (as recorded in the first chapter of the Gospel of St. Luke) to announce her conception of the Son of God.
March 25 is also, coincidentally, Greek Independence Day, which celebrates the liberation of Greece and Crete from the Ottoman Turkish Empire in 1821.
Non Orthodox are welcome to observe.
Catholic
Soup Suppers and Stations of the Cross are Fridays at Woodlawn Chapel. Soup Supper begins at 6 p.m., followed by Stations of the Cross at 7 p.m.
Ukrainian Easter Egg decorating
A class in Pysanka, Ukrainian Easter Egg decorating, is March 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Other activities, intended for youth 12 and older, are also planned.

Education
Army vocational/technical Soldier program
Congress has selected the Army to participate in an education pilot program designed to provide vocational-technical education opportunities for active-duty Soldiers, officers and wounded warriors, including National Guard and Reserve Soldiers on extended active duty.
The intent of this short-term pilot program is to provide training in high-demand career fields, including computer systems design, administrative and support, waste management and remediation services, professional, scientific and technical services, rehabilitation, nursing, medical technology and other health care occupations.
The AVOTEC program is not based on the Army's traditional TA program that pays for semester or quarter hour courses. Regardless of what education level an active-duty Soldier currently has, they are eligible to enroll for a certificate or licensure at state or national level.
Officers will incur no Active Duty Service Obligation.
The program must be no longer than 18 months long and is limited to $4,500 per fiscal year. To enroll, Soldiers must register in the GoArmyEd portal and approved in a community college, private trade or technical school before Sept. 30.

Free career assessment
A free Kuder Career Assessment is offered in Barden Education Center's Multi-Use Learning Facility, Room 112. The assessment is an easy, on-line survey program that identifies people's interests and helps them plan educational and career goals.
The assessment has three independent surveys that take approximately 20 minutes to complete each section and can be done at Barden, at home or anywhere with Internet capability. The survey is available to servicemembers, adult family members, retirees and DoD civilians.
