AAFES exchange

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Tech. Sgt. Bennett,
AAFES does not censor. While the military mission is unique, its members represent a cross section of society and tastes in the military community generally parallel to those of their civilian counterparts of similar age, educational level, cultural background, etc. AAFES publishes a synopsis of each movie released in Reel Time Theaters, including the MPAA rating, which explains why a film received such rating to help movie patrons determine which films they wish to view, as well as those they might want to avoid.
The ratings of motion pictures are determined by the rating board of the Classification and Rating Administration. CARA attempts to select a diverse group of raters who represent the diversity of American parents such as parents from different parts of the country, including small towns and big cities. Each member of the rating board is a parent and has no affiliation with the entertainment industry outside their employment with CARA.
The ratings are based on the level of certain content in the motion picture to provide parents with information to help them determine each film's suitability for viewing by their children.
We hope you are able to locate movies you believe are suitable for your family, and will continue to enjoy residing on this beautiful installation.
