• What is your position at Fort Belvoir?
Custom framer and teacher at the Kawamura Arts and Crafts Center.

• How long have you been working here?
I started volunteering in 1995. I've been a paid employee since 2008.

• Where are you from originally?
I was born in Phoenix, although, I grew up as a military brat and moved around a lot. My father is a retired chief master sergeant of the Air Force.

• What are your job responsibilities?
I take orders and do a lot of custom framing. I also handle many other customer service duties, like ordering materials and running the cash register. On the third Saturday of the month, I teach a basic framing class to about 10 students.

• What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy the interaction I have with customers and my co-workers. The people I work with are like my brothers and sisters and we get along great! They make working here so easy.

• What challenges come with your job?
Like any customer service job, you have your good days and bad days. We'll have some rude customers here and there, but the nice ones far outweigh the bad ones.

• What are some of your hobbies?
When I'm not working, I play golf at one of the courses over at Andrews Air Force Base or at the Army Navy Country Club in Fairfax. I also take care of six children. They keep me busy with all their activities.
• Do you have a favorite Fort Belvoir memory?
I have met a lot of interesting people through my job. I once met an F.B.I. agent and another time I met the head Protestant Chaplain at Arlington National Cemetery. Though, I will never forget the time I met Ferris Butler and his wife, Laura. He is a retired Army captain who lost both his legs while in Iraq. He and his wife came in one Sunday and I wound up teaching them how to frame. I've been friends with them ever since. Ferris has become like my little brother. He's one of the best!
