Residents of Woodlawn Village and all of The Villages at Belvoir enjoyed a block party June 26.

About 800 people attended the event that, in addition to a barbecue, included a rock-climbing wall; a tree house slide; a mechanical bull; an obstacle course; a fun house; a duck pond with prizes and a carousel.

Many residents also received airbrush tattoos, had their faces painted or received something from a balloon sculptor.

The Villages at Belvoir used the party to start its Living Healthy 2010 campaign and gave out almost 700 pedometers. Residents can rack up the miles on their pedometer and trade them in at their Community Management Office for prizes.

Furnished, four- and five-bedroom model homes were also open so residents could see Woodlawn Village renovations.

"I'm really impressed with the amount of work done inside these homes. I'm jealous," said Reishia Morris, a military spouse and member of the Belvoir community. "I've heard a lot about it and had to come see it for myself."

More than 100 residents stayed for a free outdoor Screen on the Green showing of "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs."
