Lila Cervantes in concert
Lila Cervantes, a military wife and Christian recording artist, will be sharing her testimony in song live at Belvoir Chapel June 19 at 7 p.m. Lila will be performing songs from her debut album "I Can See," which features all original songs composed by Brenda Lane and produced in Nashville, Tenn. Town hall meetings
Col. Jerry Blixt, Commander of U.S. Army Garrison Fort Belvoir, hosts Town Hall meetings for all military and civilian personnel working or living on Belvoir. The purpose of the meetings are to provide information about BRAC-related plans and projects; planned and ongoing construction, including work on roads; and, other topics of interest, such as the Installation Management Command's recently released "Campaign Plan."
Each session will include a question-and-answer period.
Scheduled, hour-long meetings are June 23 at 10 a.m. in Wallace Theater, South Post; and 1 p.m. June 29, Wood Theater, North Post.
Pharmacy closure
The Post Exchange Pharmacy is closed June 21-25 for remodeling. Refills called in to the PX Pharmacy during this week will be ready for pick up on June 28. Patients who need their medication before June 28 can visit the main pharmacy at DeWitt Army Community Hospital to pick up prescription refills.

50th Anniversary Tattoo

Legal Assistance Office closed for July 4
The Fort Belvoir Legal Assistance Office will be closed on July 2 and July 5 in observance of the Fourth of July holiday. The office will reopen July 6.
Belvoir Commissary to close for renovations
The Fort Belvoir Commissary will close from 5 p.m. June 27 for more than two days while it undergoes a complete store product reset, as part of the Defense Commissary Agency's ongoing effort to enhance the shopping experience. The commissary will re-open on June 30 for normal business.
June Meeting of the Military Leadership Diversity Commission
On June 16-17, the Military Leadership Diversity Commission will host its ninth public meeting at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner. The purpose of the meeting is for the 26 commissioners of the MLDC to continue their efforts to address congressional concerns as related to the promotion and advancement of minority members of the armed forces, including minority members who are senior officers.
Admiral Gary Roughead, Chief of Naval Operations, as well as General George W. Casey, Jr., Chief of Staff of the Army will speak June 16; Dr. Frank Dobbin, Professor of Sociology at Harvard University will speak June 17.
All members of the public are invited and encouraged to attend the two-day meeting session and provide comments at the end of day two. Woodlawn Village celebration
On June 26, The Villages at Belvoir hosts free family fun for residents, "Transforming Homes, Redefining Community." The celebration begins at 4 p.m. in Woodlawn Village and includes a barbecue, a rock-climbing wall, mechanical bull, obstacle course, tree-house slide and fun house.
The event also features a Screen on the Green outdoor movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, beginning at dusk.
Model homes, including renovated four- and five-bedroom units, will be open for tours.
The event celebrates the end of 18 months of work and planning between the Army and the partnership that led to Woodlawn Village homes' renovations. While the event is targeted to Woodlawn residents, it is open to all.
"Contacts-4-Contracts" breakfast
Learn about opportunities to contract with the Federal government at "Contacts-for-Contracts," with former Congressman Tom Davis speaking on "The Dos & Don'ts of Government Contracting," sponsored by the Government Procurement Relations Committee of the Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber of Commerce.
This informative breakfast will be June 24 at 7:30 am at the Belle Haven Country Club, 6023 Fort Hunt Road, Alexandria, VA 22307. Cost is $25 for members of the Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber of Commerce, and $35 for guests.

Community yard sales
The Villages at Belvoir Yard Sales are one weekend a month through October. All residents of The Villages at Belvoir can sell. However, anyone can stop by and make purchases.
Scheduled yard sales this year are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days. Residents can only sell during yard sale dates announced and authorized by The Villages at Belvoir, unless otherwise authorized by community management offices.
Upcoming 2010 yard sale dates, weather permitting, are: June 19 and 20; July 17 and 18; Aug. 14 and 15; Sept. 18 and 19; and Oct. 16 and 17.
Washington Metro Investment Club
The Washington Metro Investment Club is having an open house meeting on June 19 at the McCourt Building off Prince William Parkway. The meeting will start at 4 p.m. WMIC meets once a month to discuss investments in the Stock Market and is a member of National Association of Investment Corps (NAIC). Atlantic City trip

Family campouts
Next Campout is June 26-27, 10 a.m. Saturday to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Families are invited to pitch their tents on the spacious field next to the Outdoor Recreation Building at Tompkins Basin and sleep under the starts! Family-fun daytime and evening activities are planned throughout the weekend, including cooking s'mores over the campfire. Price is $5.00 per person and includes a tent space, fishing equipment, scavenger hunt, sporting equipment and S 'mores goodies.

Hershey Amusement Park
Civilian Employee Fund Council (CEFC) is sponsoring a one day trip on Aug. 21 to Hershey Amusement Park. Trip includes admission to the park, a meal voucher for lunch at the park's food stands, and round trip bus fare.
This trip is open to Fort Belvoir DoD civilians and up to four guests on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $40 per person. No credit cards accepted and no refunds.
