It's a sure sign of spring at Fort Belvoir when Fremont Field fills with children eager to participate in the youth sports soccer program.

The season has been going strong since opening day on April 24 with 28 teams this year in four age groups: age 5, ages 6 to 7, ages 8 to 9 and ages 10 to 11.

Every Saturday, Fremont is buzzing with activity with as many as four soccer games going on all at once.

The youth soccer program starts with team-building skills, where the basics of passing, dribbling and scoring with the ball are reinforced with the help of coaches on the field.

Friends and family take their places at the sidelines to offer encouragement as well.

With the support of caring adults, Belvoir's youth soccer program is helping to mold children into winners, both on and off the field.
