50th Anniversary Tattoo

Indian Military Modernization conference
India's military modernization is perhaps the most overlooked of the major trends occurring in the Asia-Pacific region. What is driving this modernization and buildup? In what ways is India altering its military doctrine on land, at sea, and in the air? What are the economic and security implications for the U.S.? Walk-In Vaccine Clinic
Fort Belvoir MWR's Veterinary Center will host a Walk-In Vaccine Clinic on June 12, 2010 from 8am-12. No appointments needed; just bring your pet right in. This is a vaccine only clinic, so we will not be taking regular vet appointments. For more information, please call 703-805-4336.

Movies on the Lawn Series
Come out for an evening full of completely free entertainment and activities. Fort Belvoir DFMWR has partnered with the USO to bring the Movies on the Lawn series back to Fort Belvoir. They can all be seen at the Fort Belvoir amphitheater located on the corner of Gunston and Abbot Road. The events will include live entertainment, youth activities made possible by CYSS and free snacks thanks to the USO. The entertainment will kick off at 6 p.m. and the movie will start after sun down. The June 11 movie is "The Spy Next Door" with entertainment with Lionel Ward and the New World Band. The July 9 movie is "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" with Entertainment by "The Michael King Experience."

ITR is now Leisure Travel Services
ITR (Information, Ticketing, and Registration) has a new name; Leisure Travel Services. Their services are still available at the Fort Belvoir Community Center. Stop by for information and tickets, movie tickets, plan a cruise or trip...even to Australia! Call 805-3714 for information.

Fabulous Fridays at the Golf Club
Fabulous Fridays is from 6 to 9 p.m., and features free driving range golf balls from 6 to 7:45 p.m., live entertainment on our patio, and great food selections. There are no cover charges or minimums required. Call 806-5878 for more information.

EFMP support group
The next Fort Belvoir Exceptional Family Member Program support group will be held June 3, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Bldg. 200, 9800 Belvoir Road, Fort Belvoir. The topic will be Medicaid Waivers.

Representatives from the Fairfax County Medicaid office will present information on the process of applying for Medicaid waivers, forms needed for screening, and verification. A social worker will also discuss the services covered, such as nursing home care, home health care, and limitations of activities of daily living for adult consideration. Social workers experienced in screening for children will not be present, but parents are welcome to come and obtain formation regarding application procedures, points of contact, and general information. Please call ACS EFMP at 703-805-5435 to indicate interest no later than May 27.

NARFE Springfield Chapter picnic
NARFE (National Active & Retired Federal Employees Assoc) Springfield Chapter 893 will hold its annual picnic June 3 at Mason District Park, 6621 Columbia Pike, Annandale, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Note the new location this year: www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/maps/masonmap.htm. It will be a catered barbeque by Dixie Bones and desserts will be provided by attendees for the first ever dessert bake-off. Judging will be held and prizes awarded!

Cost is $15 per person. Reservations are required and are due no later than May 28 (no refunds after May 28).

Survivor Outreach Services class
Your Insurance Needs by Jan Chapman, CFP(r) will be held from 11:30 to 1 p.m. June 9.

The Survivor Outreach Services mission is to educate the community about the Survivor Outreach Services Program and advocate on behalf of all Families who have suffered the loss of a Soldier.

All classes are held at Army Community Services, Bldg. 200, 9800 Belvoir Road, Fort Belvoir, VA 22060.

Recruiting Duty briefing
The United States Army Recruiting Command Recruit the Recruiter Team will brief all Sergeant through Sergeant First Class regarding the benefits, challenges, and qualifications of Recruiting Duty. Recruiter Presentation will be in the Barden Education Center, Room 122, at 1:30 p.m. June 2. Attendance by all NCO's and their spouses is highly encouraged. This briefing in no way obligates you for recruiting duty. If interested, go on the USAREC website, www.usarec.army.mil/hq/recruiter, and complete your packet and bring it to the brief. Play Ball!
The Outdoor Recreation crew wants to take you to a Washington Nationals Game the next one on June 4 (against Cincinnati Reds). For only $21 you get transportation, entrance to the game, chips and soda. You'll arrive at the park in time to tailgate and enter the park when they open to watch batting practice. Atlantic City Trip
Join us on June 26 for a getaway to Atlantic City, New Jersey. Cost is $45 per person and is open to all ages. Bus leaves from the Fort Belvoir Community Center at 8 a.m. and returns between 10:30 and 11 p.m. Receive an $18 to $20 rebate upon arrival in Atlantic City. Thirty guests are needed in order for the trip to go.Guests must be 21 or older to receive a rebate check from the casino. Army Birthday Ball
Celebrate 235 Years Strong at this year's Army Birthday Ball at the Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center, National Harbor, Md., June 12. All tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, so register early for an evening of dining, dancing and entertainment featuring country music star Trace Adkins! The event is open to all active duty, National Guard, Reserve, Department of the Army Civilians, Army government contractors, family members, retirees, veterans and invited guests.

Tickets cost $87 per person. A limited number of discounted tickets are available to E-5/E-6 (and GS/NSPS equivalent) at $20 per person, and E4 and below (and GS/NSPS equivalent) at $15 per person.

Community yard sales
The Villages at Belvoir Yard Sales are one weekend a month through October. All residents of The Villages at Belvoir can sell. However, anyone can stop by and make purchases.

Scheduled yard sales this year are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days. Residents can only sell during yard sale dates announced and authorized by The Villages at Belvoir, unless otherwise authorized by community management offices.

Upcoming 2010 yard sale dates, weather permitting, are: June 19 and 20; July 17 and 18; Aug. 14 and 15; Sept. 18 and 19; and Oct. 16 and 17.
Military Police Ball
Join us for the 69th MP Corps Anniversary Celebration at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Va., Sept. 24. Tickets are $65 per person and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
