Once upon a time in the enchanted Potomac Room of the magnificent Fort Belvoir Officer's Club, Friday evening, young ladies were crowned princesses with a tiara by their daddies at the second annual Father Daughter Winter Ball.
More then 150 dapper duos in their grand chariots traveled from all across the Villages at Belvoir.
No amount of fairy godmothers could make the room bigger for the more than 100 daddies and daughters who could not enter the ballroom.
Hand-in-hand Kings and Princesses lined the halls awaiting their turn with the photographer.
Upon crossing the grand threshold, attendees received a rose, refreshments and hors d'oeuvres.
When the music began, King Chip Horn and Princess Caitlin, 5, were the first to the floor for twirling and floating. Soon the entire dance floor was filled with magnificent ball gowns spinning and Princesses laughing. A few Kings danced with their daughters, others enjoyed watching the festivities from the walls.
Nine-year-old Princess Aliesha Cruz said the best part about the evening was, "Dancing with my dad. We're spending time together and having a lot of fun."
Princess Eriana Taylor, 5, pointed to her father King Richard, and said, "He's my favorite."
The Belvoir Kings smiled and laughed, taking joy in watching their little princesses, ages 4-13, dancing, jumping, and giggling with their fellow princesses.
To end the evening every King was asked to take their Princesses to the dance floor for "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle. With tears in their eyes, Kings were turned back into daddies and Princesses into daughters, the magic of the night captured forever on camera.
They left the ball, happily ever after.
But not to worry, the enchanting ball will come again. The Villages at Belvoir marketing manager, Janelle Cautis, said she hopes to put together another gala in the fall.
