Playing under the lights at Pullen Field, the 75 pound National Bulldawgs ran all over the Wolverines of Lee-Franconia, defeating the visitors 33-0
Sept. 25.
Belvoir scored all but one of their touchdowns in the first half, with Seth Roy scoring three of the four touchdowns.
Despite the big win, the Belvoir coaches weren't happy with the team's lack of scoring late in the game.
"You didn't keep that same fire up all game," offensive coach Joseph Barnes said to his team after the game. "I know it's hard on a Tuesday - you're in school all day, it doesn't feel right to any of us ... but, you have to keep the pressure on the entire game."
Randall Gaskins opened up the game with a touchdown on the Bulldawgs first offensive play, on a 27-reverse.
Roy scored the second, third and fourth touchdowns all on similar plays, a 37-dive to the left side, because, according to Barnes, the Wolverine's line was weak on the right side. Belvoir went into halftime with a 26-7 edge, and would score early in the third quarter.
Roy set up deep for the second-half opening kickoff, and collected the ball and advanced to the Lee Franconia 40.
On first-and-10, DeMarcus Ramsey broke out wide for a 31-yard gain, giving the Dawgs first-and-goal from the 9.
Quarterback Desmond Edmondson took the keeper to the 2-yard line on the next play. On second down, Ramsey took the ball and barreled through the middle through a scrum to the end zone, giving the Dawgs a 33-6 lead.
"Our offensive line dominated through the entire game," said assistant coach Vincent Whitehurst. The line consisted of tight ends Gabriel Farrow and Anfernee Sealey; center Xachary Whitehurst; guards Jahlil Moore and David Robinson; and tackle R.C. Duckett.
"They've been dominating all season, and we can't do anything without the offensive line."
