AMC lost a sizeable early lead and was unable to rebound, falling 15-11 to ADF for only its second loss this season during Monday's intramural softball game at North Post field.

The first inning looked problematic for AMC, as the team quickly racked up two outs. Before the end of AMC's turn at bat, a runner managed to cross home plate to notch an early run on the scoreboard.

At the bottom of the first inning, ADF had two runners on base but neither could advance as the third batter in the rotation netted an out on a pop fly to center field. A second out came moments later at second base, keeping ADF runners stranded at first and third base. When it seemed ADF was out of chances to score, a triple deep into left field scored two runners before the inning's end.

A long double kicked off the second inning for AMC, which set the pace for a three-run outing that put the team up, 4-2.

After a scoreless inning by ADF, AMC tallied three more runs at the top of the third, extending its lead to 7-2.

The roles reversed over the next two innings, as the bats started swinging again for ADF in the bottom of the third for eight hits that resulted in five runs to knot the score at seven apiece. AMC, meanwhile, connected for three hits in the top of the fourth, none of which resulted in runs.

ADF picked up where it left off earlier, hammering a triple into left field at the bottom of the inning. Another runner joined the offensive run at first base, and moments later, a home run scored all of them for a three-run effort. An additional late-inning run crossed the plate before the third out came, resulting in an 11-7 advantage for ADF.

AMC was still unable to make any points manifest in the fifth inning. ADF's offensive effort slowed as well, as a home run was the only score at the bottom of the fifth.

AMC shook off the dust from its previous two quiet innings for two runs in the top of the sixth, cutting slightly into ADF's 12-9 lead.

The problem was, ADF still wasn't done scoring. Back-to-back doubles put runners at second and third base, and a triple brought them both in before later scoring as well for a 15-9 advantage.
AMC managed another run before the game ended.

The win improved ADF's season record to 12-5, while AMC suffered only its second loss of the season with a 15-2 mark.

Regular season play ends Aug. 12, and the intramural championship begins Aug. 23.
