The Fort Belvoir Golf Club tournament season continued with the annual Club Championship. Conducted July 31 and Aug. 1, participants competed to determine the Belvoir men's women's and senior club champions. Additional flights were created by handicap and skill level to allow all patrons the opportunity to compete against other golfers of similar skill.
The event was held with 18 holes on both the Woodlawn and Gunston golf courses with an individual stroke play format.
On the men's club championship side, Dave Johnson played two fantastic rounds of golf, netting a 73 and an 83 for a final score of 156. Second place went to Lee Ellis with a score of 159, and a score of 160 for a third-place tie between Mikle Makowa and Aaron Snow rounded out the top finishers.
Eric Utegaard was the winner in the senior division for the second year in a row, with scores of 79 and 73 to finish the tournament with a 152. The runner-up was Steve Frishmuth with a 160, and third place went to Robbie Williams, who shot a 162.
Sarah Major won her fourth women's club championship, while low net went to Ikue Kokkeler and Diane Davis and Susan Laver tied for second place.
The Fort Belvoir Golf Club thanks all its patrons for their continued support. Any ideas for future events are welcome to help tailor the club's efforts to utilize the most fun formats.
