MEDDAC's near-perfect record kept them tied with Headquarters Battalion's A-team after a 56-26 victory over Clark Pinnacle Monday night.
Clark gave MEDDAC a couple of scares in the early minutes of the matchup, closing a game-long deficit to eight points with 2:54 in the first half.
After Clark misfired on a three-point shot, MEDDAC took the opportunity to push the ball down the floor and score to push the lead to ten points.
Undeterred, Clark took another shot from behind the arc - successfully, this time - to pull within seven points with just over a minute to play.
But MEDDAC was also unshaken, dropping five points of its own to take stronger command of the lead at the break, 29-17.
MEDDAC never allowed Clark a chance to find its momentum again. Clark fell into a 36-19 hole thanks to a 7-2 run by MEDDAC.
Aggressive play at both ends of the court helped MEDDAC keep a firm hold on its advantage, while Clark missed too many easy opportunities under the basket that may have helped its cause.
Clark's offense only put nine points on the board in the second half.
The intramural basketball tournament started Feb. 24, and MEDDAC's record gave the team a bye the first night. The team faces the winner of the USASPO/NVESD game.
The championship game is Wednesday.
