The competition for the Fort Belvoir Commander's Cup was in full swing over the last two weeks as the Directorate of Morale, Welfare and Recreation sponsored the intramural archery championships at the Outdoor Recreation Center in Tompkins Basin.
Over the two-week period, 86 participants participated in a men's and women's open competition from various organizations across the installation.
Each competitor shot 30 arrows in six rounds from 20 yards away. Each archer was required to shoot five arrows in four minutes.
Awards were given to the top two finishers in each category and two trophies were awarded to the unit who accumulated the most points.
In the men's open division, Lt. Col. Jeff Stremel of DTRA won first place with 148 points out of a possible 150. Stremel hit 11 bull's-eyes out of his 30 shots.
John Cooper, also from DTRA came in second place after scoring 146 points out of 150. Cooper hit half of his shots in the bull's-eye.
In the women's open, Carmen Toratone of DTRA won first place with a total score of 124 and four bull's-eyes.
Arlene Connin from ADF East took second place with 52 points and she hit one bull's-eye.
DTRA won the first place unit trophy with 32 Commander's Cup points and ADF East took second place with 29 points.
