Volleyball welcomed the spring intramural sports season at Wells Field House Monday with 12 teams in action for the first games of the season.
ADF-B and MEDDAC faced off in the evening's first showdown. Despite ADF's dominance over the first two matches with 25-21 and 25-14 victories, respectively, MEDDAC came away with a win in the final match of the evening, 15-6.
Despite a close opening match with even play across the board, ADF came away with a four-point win, 25-21.
MEDDAC sought payback in the second match, playing from nine points down in the early minutes to pull within six points and a 18-12 deficit. ADF not only continued to put up points of its own, but also shut down MEDDAC's attack effectively, allowing its opponent only two more points on the way to a 25-14 win.
By the third match, ADF's strong efforts were marred by fatigue. Errant returns and weak volleys into the net gave MEDDAC an opportunity to jump to an early 5-2 lead.
ADF refused to quit and clawed its way back within a point, 7-6. The sixth point scored, however, would be ADF's last of the night, as MEDDAC went on to take eight unanswered points.
