<b>Prince William County basketball try-outs</b>
Try-outs for the Prince William County Jaguars Amateur Athletic Union Basketball League is currently underway for boys and girls in grades 5-11 at the Dr. A.J. Ferlazzo building in Woodbridge and the Freedom Aquatic Center in Manassas through Nov. 27.
The league is sponsored by the Prince William County Sports Athletic Organization Incorporated.

<b>Women’s basketball try-outs</b>
The Fort Belvoir Women’s Basketball Team conducts basketball tryouts Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. in Graves Fitness Center’s gym. Try-outs are open through January.

The program is open to all active-duty military, military dependents, Reservists, National Guard, and contractors assigned to Fort Belvoir.

<b>Volleyball at U.S. Coast Guard Station</b>
The U.S. Coast Guard Telecommunications and Information Systems Command (TISCOM) will host volleyball games at the Coast Guard Station, off of Telegraph Road, on Sundays from 9 a.m. to noon. Games will promote military volleyball and the TISCOM Drill Facility. Military or DoD employees who live in or around Franconia are invited to play (BB to B Level). There is only one court available so participation will be on a first-come-first-serve basis. <b>Adult recreational volleyball </b>

Cosmic bowling starts at 12:30 p.m. Saturdays at the Bowling Center.

Fort Belvoir Youth Sports and Fitness is looking for wrestling coaches.

The 8 a.m. first tee time will be the first tee time every day.

The clubhouse opens one hour before the first tee time and the pro shop and snack bar open 30 minutes before the first tee time.

<b>Turkey Trot 10K and 5K run</b>
The Fort Belvoir Turkey Trot is Nov. 19 at 15th Street and Middleton Road. Start time is 9 a.m.

All duck blinds are currently open. The next full lottery is Sunday at 1 p.m. at Outdoor Recreation for the major season of waterfowl hunting that begins Nov. 19.

The hours for Outdoor Recreation equipment issue are Monday-Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The new hours allow customers to check out and return items 7 days a week.

<b>Special Needs football </b>
The Down Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia sponsors its first Special Needs football league in northern Virginia.

The friendly games will be played in a non-contact, modified flag football style in order to encourage team work and inclusivity.

The last game of the season is Saturday at 12 p.m. at Freedom High School’s Freedom Stadium in South Riding, Va.

There is no registration fee and participation is open to the public. Upon registration, each player will receive a team jersey.

<b>Functional fitness training </b>
The Fort Belvoir Functional Training Program is a six-week program that develops operational readiness for military and civilian personnel by emphasizing mobility, strength, restoration and energy system development.

The civilian program is open to Department of Army civilians, retirees and dependents age 18 and older.

A lunchtime session has been added 11 a.m. to noon.

<b>Learn to Kayak </b>
Team River Runner, Outdoor Recreation and Benyaurd Pool offer opportunities to learn the basics of kayaking in the comfort of an indoor pool.

Following completion of the instruction at the indoor pool, participants may join Team River Runner on a local trip or visit Outdoor Recreation for a paddle at Tompkins Basin.

A bi-weekly kayaking program is offered to promote physical and emotional healing, and is designed for all Wounded Warriors and their Families. Admission is free, including equipment.

Classes are given on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. Information is available at (703) 805-3081.
